2023 KTAA Taekwondo National Championships

Dear Taekwondo competitors, coaches, and families,
It is with great pleasure that I invite you to participate in the 2023 KTAA TAEKWONDO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. I would like to extend our warmest greetings to the entire Taekwondo community and a special welcome our first-time participants. This tournament caters for beginners with some novelty events for those who just want their first taste at a tournament, as well as our more experienced athletes.
We want to encourage and motivate sportsmanship and the spirit of martial arts in our competitors, we will be awarding medals to competitors achieving 1ST 2ND 3RD & 4TH placings. This competition is about gaining experience, developing confidence, and building a warm and caring attitude that will last a lifetime. I hope that all our athletes will learn from this experience, and with the continued practice of Taekwondo, learn the true meaning of the martial arts spirit.
We will offer the following 18 events:
Sparring (manual, electronic),
Poomsae Traditional Patterns (individual, pairs, teams, family/friends),
Poomsae Palgwe Patterns (Individual, pairs, teams, family/friends),
Poomsae WT (Black Belt Divisions),
Poomsae Para (Individual),
Board Breaking (power and technical),
Speed kicking (Front & Tornado),
Flying side kick,
Jump front kick,
Freestyle demonstration – sword, dance, (Individual, pairs, teams).
This will be an open opportunity for athletes to showcase their Taekwondo skills and demonstrate their 5 Tenets of Taekwondo: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-
control, indomitable spirit.
The goal of this competition is to provide a positive, safe environment that promotes the spirit of sportsmanship, fairness and respect allowing competitors to dig deep and
demonstrate their skills whilst enjoying a friendly competition.
